Tuition and Fees

Tuition is determined by the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges and is subject to change without notice. Costs of textbooks and supplies are additional expenses and vary based on the course(s). Tuition and required institutional fees are subject to change without notice.

At the time of registration, students must either pay the entire amount of tuition and fees, set up a payment plan through the Business Office, or receive confirmation of financial aid. Payment due dates are posted on the Rockingham Community College’s website. Students will be removed from their courses if payment is not made by the applicable deadline.

The tuition and fees for the 2026-2027 academic year are outlined below:

Curriculum Programs:

Tuition

North Carolina Residents tuition: $76.00 per credit hour
*maximum tuition per semester: $1,216.00

Out-of-State Students tuition: $268.00 per credit hour
*maximum tuition per semester: $4,288.00

Student Activity Fees

Fall and Spring Semesters

Students will pay activity fees according to the following schedule (per semester):

  • 1-4 Credit Hours $10.00
  • 5-7 Credit Hours $18.00
  • 8-11 Credit Hours $27.00
  • 12 or more Credit Hours $40.00

Summer Session

Each student (full-time or part-time) will pay a $1.00 student activity fee.

College Access, Parking & Security Fee (CAPS)

  • $20.00 fall and spring semester
  • $10.00 summer session

Technology Fee

  • 1-3 credit hours – $20.00 per semester
  • 4 or more credit hours – $40.00 per semester

Credential Fee

  • 1-11 credit hours - $8.00 per semester
  • 12 or more credit hours - $16.00 per semester

Continuing Education Programs:

Tuition

  • 1-24 contact hours: $70
  • 25-95 contact hours: $125
  • 96+ contact hours: $180

Technology Fee

  • 1-24 course contact hours – $1.00
  • 25-50 course contact hours – $3.00
  • 51 or greater course contact hours – $5.00

College Access, Parking & Security Fee (CAPS)

  • 1-50 course contact hours – $3.00
  • 51 or greater course contact hours – $5.00

Credential Fee

  • $2.00 - $12.00 depending on course

Additional Costs

Accident Insurance

Accident insurance covers the student during the hours that the college is in session or while participating in a college activity. The premium is subject to change by the insuring agency. This insurance may be required for certain programs and is available for purchase.

Student Malpractice Insurance

Student malpractice insurance is a type of professional liability coverage designed for individuals in workforce and technical education programs that involve hands-on training with patients, clients, or the public. It helps protect students financially if they are accused of causing injury or negligence while participating in clinical rotations, internships, or other supervised workforce placements.
